Swimming is a sport that can be enjoyed, either as a leisure activity or competitively at any age. The exercise helps to maintain mobility as well as helping to prevent conditions such as heart disease, osteoporosis and diabetes.
If you are a swimmer aged 18 years and over you can compete in masters competitions. Masters compete in five-year age bands (e.g. 18-24, 25-29). Competition is available in all four strokes and over all distances up to 1,500 metres. There is no upper age limit and in Cambridgeshire we have Masters competing in the 80-85 years category.
If you to find out more about Masters swimming the Swim England Masters Hub is a good place to start.
Most clubs in Cambridgeshire welcome Masters’ swimmers.
