The qualification window for the 2025 Aquatics GB Next Gen Championships and GoCardless Swim England National Summer Meet has opened.

It runs from Friday 7 March and through to Sunday 11 May.

Selection for the summer competitions are by invitation only based on long course times achieved during the window.

The 2025 season will see a change in the number of swimmers offered the opportunity to compete in the Aquatics GB Next Gen Championships based on data and evaluation from previous summer competitions.

In the 13-14 year age group, the 20 top-ranked swimmers in each group will be invited to compete. 

The 24 top-ranked swimmers in each event in the 15, 16, 17 and 18-year-old age groups will also be invited. 

In the 19 years and over age group, the 20 top-ranked swimmers will be invited to attend. 

The only exceptions to these numbers are the 800m and 1500m Freestyle events, where the top 18 swimmers will be invited in all but the 19+ age group, where 16 swimmers will be invited.

The Aquatics GB Next Gen Championships take place at Sheffield’s Ponds Forge International Sports Centre from Saturday 19 to Friday 25 July, with the same venue hosting the GoCardless Swim England National Summer Meet between Tuesday 29 July and Sunday 3 August.

Officials are key to the future of our sport and are an essential voluntary element at every swimming competition because they make sure they run smoothly, meet licensing conditions and enable times to go to rankings.

So that we are able to continue to deliver the high standard of competitions needed by our athletes Swim England Cambridgeshire is working to develop range of initiatives to ensure a healthy funnel of new officials and the development of existing officials.

While we finalise our plans please take a look at the development opportunities offered by Swim England. If you are already a Judge 1 and meet additional qualification criteria please consider applying for training as Judge 2 using the online application process.

East Region Long Course Championships has now opened volunteering opportunities for swimming officials to support the event.

We are encouraging officials affiliated to all Cambridgeshire clubs to support the region’s recruitment drive and ensure the delivery of the highest standard competition for our athletes.

The Co-Creation of the Future of Coaching is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of aquatic coaching and your insights and experiences are crucial to this process.

It aims to redefine the purpose of coaching, highlighting best practices, and build a more supportive, inclusive and collaborative coaching culture.

We would encourage you all to take a few minutes to complete the survey as your feedback will help create better experiences for coaches, participants and clubs, ensuring people flourish and thrive in aquatics.

The East Region event will be held on 20th March 2025 in Cambridge.

Keeping up to date with rule changes and other essential skills for being an excellent swimming technical official helps ensure that we offer the very best competitions for our swimmers.

The East Region are running an online workshop to build knowledge and skills on 12th February @ 7pm.

We urgently need more officials to signup for sessions so that the swimmers times can be properly reported to ranking. are still calling for 5-10 officals more for each session. We are also strongly encouraging all J1 Trainees to utilise this great opportunity to gain experience on their journey to becoming a qualified swimming official.

We are also looking for more volunteers, from visiting clubs especially, across all sessions so that our swimmers have the best opportunities to swim their very best.

Spectator entry is £6.00 per session or £10.00 for the whole day.

Parkside Pool, Cambridge will be hosting our County Championships in 2025.  The event will be held over 4 days

• Friday 24th January (evening session)
• Saturday 25th January (full day)
• Sunday 26th January (full day)
• Sunday 2nd February (full day)

Team Cambs had some exceptional swims at the National County Team Championships in Sheffield but other teams also had excellent swims. This meant that Swim England Cambridgeshire finished 19th and will swim in Division 2 in 2025 along with Scotland North, Cheshire and Dorset who were also relegated.

Despite the disappointment of moving down, ever swimmer on the team swam their very best and their home clubs should be proud of their efforts and of the work that their coaches have done to bring out the very best in the swimmers.
