Swimming groups

Most clubs in Cambridgeshire welcome disability swimmers and where possible provide inclusive training opportunities. There are two dedicated swimming groups for disabled athletes:

Peterborough Special Olympics Swimming Group train at the each Friday between 8.00pm to 9.00pm at the Jack Hunt Pool. This is a closed session for PSOSG they use all four lanes. Training on Sunday is between 8.00pm and 9.00pm at the Jack Hunt Pool. This is part of a public swimming session with 2 lanes used by the group.

City of Cambridge Swimming Club have a Para Swimming Squad of about 20 swimmers, which is open to disabled swimmers aged 8yrs and over, including adults.

The squad is structured to include swimmers who are learning to be competitive para swimmers through to high performance para swimming. Sessions are held at the Perse, Abbey or Parkside pools on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

The squad has swimmers from fitness through to National level competitors and several on Swim England para talent pathways. We can support you through the classification process.

Swim England East Region have a disability swimming development programme thatis open to all disabled swimmers in the Region.

Swim England Para-Swimming Talent Programme

The Swim England Para-Swimming Talent Team deliver high-quality training and mentoring for the most promising young para-swimmers in England.
